Windows 10 Mobile is almost here, even for Windows Phone users, but it's very clear that more improvements are needed in terms of UI and usability, especially because adopters expected to get more from such a significant upgrade.
And because Microsoft needs more time for a more important overhaul, concept designers across the world propose their own platform improvements, which the company could at some point use to actually make Windows 10 Mobile better.
A concept published on Behance by Robson R. Jobs envisions some of these enhancements, focusing on small refinements to the little things that matter across the operating system.
Redesigned Start screen
The redesign begins with the Start screen, which the concept says that must have only transparent live tiles. For the moment, the majority of tiles do feature transparency, but there still are a bunch of them, some of which even belong to Microsoft, which continues to use the old solid color background.
The concept also introduces a new large live tile size, native app icons are more consistent, the nav bar is also transparent, and the interactive live tiles make their debut to let users perform quick actions such as playing and pausing music without launching the apps.
The action center has also received a significant overhaul, now coming with translucent background and widgets, including weather and Spotify. There's also better organization, with more space between notifications, but also progress bars for downloads from store, Edge, phone updates, and others.
Certainly, this concept proposes some very eye-appealing ideas, and this is clearly what users expect to get from Windows 10 Mobile, so there's no doubt that Microsoft must have a look at it and maybe borrow some cues for future OS updates. And yet, do not expect anything huge to debut until Redstone, as Windows 10 Mobile updates seem to be all about improving performance and reliability for now.
